There were a few glitches in completing the final proof that took some emails back and forth. However, the final product looked beautiful. Set up was generally easy to complete. I am extremely satisfied overall with the look and feel of the final product. Would highly recommend the service to others.

Great and timely support provided by Mixam staff during the draft phase of the book. Overall, the final printing turned out great. However, the inner book block was not attached symmetrically to the outer cover. I've been told that this should not affect the strength of the binding. However, after so much effort putting the book together on my part, I was disappointed that the final product had an "aesthetically unpleasing" flaw. Otherwise, I would have given a 5-star rating.

10/10 Completely Perfect printing of a Custom Hardcover book. The provide you with everything you need to do to make sure your print goes perfectly. Their website design page makes ordering and setup so easy. Their prices are SO FAIR I can't even see how they make a profit. Perfectly bound, perfectly cut, perfect colors, I can't say a SINGLE negative thing. I will absolutely use them in the future when the need arises. I don't think you could go wrong with this company.

Absolutely brilliant. I wrote an autobiography with photos in Microsoft Publisher and it easily converted to pdf format. I am a doddery, almost 80 year old and Mixam guided me when needed. The price for 10 copies was very reasonable. I have only the highest praise for such a professional production. Thank you.

My business creates family history books for clients and we typically only need 1-5 copies per client. We spiral bind our books in house. We were ready to step it up and test out having hardcover books made, but had a hard time finding a printer who would do such small runs. When I stumbled across Mixam and read good reviews, I thought I'd try them out by reprinting a former client's book. The folks at Mixam worked with me to resolve issues with layout and bleeds (I'm an amateur at best with InDesign), and were kind and helpful. I did have an issue once getting their site to re-upload a new version I had created, but they were quick to offer me a backup solution to get the files to them. I waited anxiously for my books to come, and I was OVER THE MOON when I saw them. They were gorgeous. I was so pleased and so excited to show them off to everyone. I will absolutely use Mixam again for any send-out print work I need.

The quality was great, colors and all. The agent was very helpful in getting the best result and was very thorough. Only down sides was that some of the books had slight dents in the edges of the spine. Not sure if that was just due to shipping.

Mixam staff was very helpful. The uploading of files was easy. The template for the pages allowed for the added bleed making the page greater than the finished product, however the book cover template would not allow for the required bleed which made it difficult to submit without help from staff. Also most photo books that I have purchased and all of the ones I have published included end papers in the front and the back of the submitted pages. This was not the case at Mixam which made the end product look and feel unfinished. These end papers should be automatic in my opinion like my other printing companies supplied.

Family History Book Print File Setup

How to upload your files
You can upload your files in a way that suits you - as single pages or spreads, individual files for each page, or as a single combined file.
Important - your cover
Your cover is made up of four pages - a front cover, an inside front cover, a back cover, and an inside back cover.
Bleed
We ask for a 0.125" bleed on all wedding books. Please do not include any important content within this area.
Binding
The binding options available for wedding books are: saddle stitched or stapled, and perfect bound.
Please note:
These available binding options are entirely dependent upon the number of pages and paper weight selected for your order. This is because there comes a point where the combined paper thickness is too much to effectively staple or stitch together, and will instead need to be held together by adhesive (otherwise known as ‘perfect binding’).
The opposite is true if there are too few pages for perfect binding to work. Our dynamic ordering system is smart enough to know when a limit has been reached, and will automatically switch to the required binding option.
Spine (for Perfect Binding)
If you choose perfect binding you have the option to upload the spine as a separate print file. The spine depth is calculated and displayed in the shopping cart. If you do not upload a print file for your spine it will be left blank.
The spine will need a 0.125" bleed at the top and bottom.
Completing your order
Before you can complete your order, you must make sure all page placeholders have been completed. For example, if you are ordering 32 pages, all 32 boxes must be filled. If you do not have enough content, you must add blank pages.
